Opened in 2014, this restaurant stands out with its unique Mediterranean bistro-tapas concept. Located in downtown Sanary, near the cinema with ample parking nearby. The ambiance is unparalleled, adorned with artist sketches, dim lighting, and an impressive wine cellar, its bottles showcased in the dining area. Whether you fancy sharing a tapas board at the bar with a glass of wine or relishing a meal with friends at a table, Le Gio will charm you. While the quaint backyard is a summer bonus, it’s in winter that Le Gio truly shines with its cozy décor and comforting dishes.
A culinary gem for Mediterranean bistro-tapas lovers
Le Gio’s menu is a delightful blend of traditional Mediterranean and bistro dishes. Savor tapas, charcuterie/cheese boards, burgers, a sharable beef rib, Milanese escalope, or even oven-baked camembert. They prioritize fresh, seasonal ingredients, evident in the variety and quality of dishes. Nothing is over-the-top here; it’s all about essence, with dishes under 20€ – a rarity in the region.
My Experience
On my recent visit to Le Gio, like every past experience, the welcome was warm, service prompt and professional. We chose tapas to share, some homemade, others not, but all delectable and of quality. Naturally, the wine selection was stellar. Our beef tagliata was tender and cooked to perfection, even the fries were homemade!
But the evening’s true star was undoubtedly the Nutella French toast – a must for years, utterly divine.
