If you’re passing through the picturesque village of Ollioules, a stop at the restaurant Les Étiquettes is a no-brainer. Small, cozy, and full of surprises, this restaurant is still making waves!

A Culinary Journey Where Boldness is Paramount

At the heart of downtown Ollioules, Les Étiquettes is a true gem. This restaurant, open since 2019, is masterfully run by Chef Ludovic Lamont, supported by his wife Gaëlle. Stepping in, you are immediately struck by the warm welcome and the friendliness that emanates from the place. The menu, updated every 6 weeks, is concise and to the point: two choices for starters, mains, and desserts. But be warned, this simplicity masks an inventive and generous cuisine. Local ingredients are celebrated and elevated through original recipes.

It’s crucial to note that Les Étiquettes’ cuisine isn’t for everyone. The flavor combinations are very daring. It’s an experience that requires an open mind and a desire to explore new culinary horizons. If you’re the “ribeye and potatoes” type, this might not be the place for you. But if you love adventure, go for it!

My Experience

Upon arrival, we were immediately won over by the terrace. Sheltered under plane trees, next to a bewitching fountain, the ambiance was simply divine. Inside, the vaulted dining room was equally inviting with undeniable charm.

Now, let’s talk about the dishes. Gaëlle, with her radiant smile, was our culinary guide for the evening. She explained each dish with precision and passion that made the experience even more delightful. We opted for the full menu, and between the two of us, we tasted the entire offering.

First off, an amuse-bouche of raw salmon and mango, very refreshing. Followed by a veal tartare with cherries. A surprising combo, much like the tuna with strawberries. It was tasty, but mostly surprising. Then, a pigeon and monkfish accompanied by well-crafted condiments and crisp vegetables (perhaps a tad too crisp for my liking). To conclude, the desserts paired with sweet vegetables like beetroot and tomato.

In summary, Les Étiquettes is a unique venue offering inventive cuisine in a delightful setting. It’s an invitation to discover unfamiliar flavors, where the chef plays with ingredients to surprise your taste buds. If you’re ready for a bold culinary journey, Les Étiquettes eagerly awaits!
